What's The Difference Between HourWorld™ XGA
and HourWorld™ VGA? (version 2.34)
May 3, 1999
What's the difference?
The size of the HourWorld™ map.
The size of the HourWorld™ display window,
The size of the monitor or display required to run the software.
The HourWorld™ XGA display offers larger sizes that we haven't offered before. Not
everyone has a monitor or display large enough to use it, but many do.
The HourWorld™ VGA software provides the same size display size as our earlier full
versions of HourWorld™ and WorldClock.
The HourWorld™ distribution file available from www.hourworld.com and other websites
contains a map image measuring 960 x 480 pixels. This is the complete image required for
both XGA and VGA options, so additional downloads are not required. The program
uses the same preferences format as earlier HourWorld 2.10+ distributions, so users of
HourWorld™ 2.10 or later should not find it necessary to re-register or to get a new registration
key in order to use the software.
If you are a new downloader, and haven't registered HourWorld™ before, your copy will
operate as HourWorld™ Lite, limited to a small display size, until registered. You may
register it as HourWorld VGA or HourWorld SVGA. The software will adjust itself to the
size registered.
About HourWorld™ XGA, with our Largest Display Sizes:
• A registration fee of $35 is asked from new customers. It is considered a product upgrade,
with a $10.00 registration fee asked from previous HourWorld™ or WorldClock customers
for activation of the XGA option. Registered users of previous versions of HourWorld™
need to get a new key to activate the XGA displays.
• The program will operate in either XGA or VGA modes. There is a menu item on the
Preferences Dialog to select the display size.
• It will work in VGA mode (medium size) on a monitor smaller than 800 x 600, but in order
to use the larger display sizes, a monitor or display of 800 x 600 pixels or larger is required.
A monitor with 1024x768 pixel resolution is needed to display the largest size in HourWorld
XGA.
About HourWorld™ VGA, our Medium Display Size:
• A registration fee of $30 is asked from new customers. Previous HourWorld™ customers
may upgrade FREE. New registration keys are not normally required for registered users of
HourWorld™ 2.0 or later - the old key should work. Previous WorldClock customers are
asked for an upgrade fee of $10.
• If you acquire a larger monitor or display later, you my upgrade to the XGA sizes for $10.
